Frequently asked questions

What's actually in this directory?

The government regulator and public register to check for a fund manager in 17 G20 jurisdictions, plus the European Union's AIFMD cross-border marketing mechanic. Every register was independently checked live on the edition date, with the specific reason noted for any that could not be confirmed.

Is checking a register a substitute for due diligence?

No. A register check confirms whether a firm is licensed or registered where it claims to be — it says nothing about investment merit, track record, or fit with your mandate. It is the first, cheapest filter available before a first meeting, never a replacement for real due diligence.

Why are China and Russia not covered?

Both are excluded from this edition entirely, deliberately, by scope — a decision about where Private Capital Development works, not a finding about any institution or register.

How current is this, and will it go out of date?

This is a fixed document, dated to its edition. Regulators periodically restructure their own search tools, which is the most likely way an entry here goes stale — re-check a register directly before relying on it if you are reading this more than a few months after the edition date.

What happens after I download it?

Nothing beyond the download unless you ask. If you tell us your mandate using the form above, we will also use it to introduce fund managers that fit, one at a time, at no cost to you, with the option to decline any of them.
